Corelle Dinnerware introduced in 1970, the original break and chip resistant glass dinnerware was the first of its kind when developed by Corning Glass Works R&D scientists. Corelle was also the first tableware in its price range to guarantee replacement of any dinnerware that broke, chipped, stained or cracked within the first two years, without requiring any proof of purchase.
Corelle Livingware was so popular that throughout its first decade it was virtually sold out even before it was made. Within the first year and a half after Corelle was first placed on sale, more than 40 million pieces had been sold. It was an unprecedented record.
